The House
Catherine and Francis will warmly welcome you at La Folière and will be delighted to make you discover the Saumurois and the Anjou,beautiful wine regions full of history. The city of Saumur, very close, is only 6 km away on the left bank of the Loire.
You will stay in a beautiful Longère of 19th century, a typical house of the region of Saumur built with tufa stones. You will also appreciate the large wooded park of 4000 sqm, the swimming pool and the spa.
The Rooms
Our house has 3 comfortable and spacious rooms, all with their own private bathroom and toilet. The rooms located on the 1st floor of the house are attic and accessible through a private entrance.
Services
The guesthouse « La Folière » put at your disposal on request and for free bycicles. Take a ride and discover different beautiful routes such as "La Loire à vélo" or "l'Authion à vélo" (tributary of the Loire River).
Every morning, Francis and Catherine will serve you a generous breakfast, made with homemade products, such as jams, pastries and fruit salads… During low season (from October to March), you can also choose, at the time of your reservation, to have a dinner plate or pizzas and quiches, in the living room that is specially assigned to you.
Spa : absolute relaxation
Our spa is located in an outbuilding next the guest house. The clear water is treated with active oxygen and is 37°C in winter and 35°C in summer. You can relax in peace in this space designed for relaxation.
It is a beautiful moment of complete relaxation and that is why children under 16 are not allowed in this area.
Price per person for 50 minutes: 15 €.
Activities
Castles & Villages
Stay in the heart of the Loire Valley and discover its unique architectural heritage. The castles of the Loire Valley are waiting for you: Saumur, Rigny-Ussé, Langeais, Azay-le-Rideau are only a few kilometres away. Not forgetting the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud.
You can also stroll through the narrow streets of the pretty villages nearby, such as Montsoreau, Montreuil-Bellay or Candes Saint Martin.
Vineyards & domains
The Loire Valley is famous for its wines: light reds from the Loire or full-bodied ones from Chinon, rosé from Anjou, still or sparkling white in Saumur. Our house is located between Saumur and Bourgueil, two famous appellations. Meet the winegrowers, who will let you taste their best wines.
Visit also the troglodyte cellars, emblematic of the region. Turquant is a remarkable village for the habitations that have been created in the rock.
Sport & Nature
On foot, by bike or by canoe: discover the Loire and Anjou landscapes from a different angle. Many cycle routes criss-cross the region: La Loire à Vélo, La Vélofrancette, l'Authion à vélo. Whether you're a cycling traveler or a day-tripper, explore the roads and paths between the river and the vineyards.
You can also enjoy visiting the zoo of Doué la Fontaine or the leisure park Terra Botanica, less than an hour away from the house.
Art & History
Saumur is famous for its Cadre Noir. Go and see a sumptuous equestrian show, unique in France. The town also has a theatre and numerous museums that trace the town's military past: the armoured vehicle museum, the cavalry museum, the horse-drawn carriage collection, etc. Not forgetting the living heritage, in particular the Combier distillery, which is still in operation nowadays.
